Paper exams and OMR

Paper exams, marked by Friday.

Hand out paper the way you always have. Scan the stack when it comes back; every page finds its student, and AI marks the answers for a teacher to check.

How it works

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. 1

    Print three ways

Cover sheets with the question paper, OMR bubble sheets, or a student pack: cover, the student's own paper set and continuation pages, every page footed with a signed QR code.

  2. 2

    Scan the whole stack

Scan in any order. Codes are read in the browser, verified on the server, and the stack is split per student. A page the code can't place asks you to pick the student.

  3. 3

    Mark on screen

Answers are read and marked by AI against the scheme, question by question. The teacher checks, changes and releases.

What you get with paper exams and omr.

  • Signed QR on every page

“Page 3 of 7 of script S”, signed so a code can't be forged or reused.

  • Paper sets

Different sets of the same paper, dealt so neighbours don't share; a set locks once printed.

  • OMR bubble sheets

Multiple choice answers read from the sheet and scored with no typing.

  • Server-made PDFs

Packs are rendered as PDFs on the server, identical to the paper on screen.

  • Any order, any scanner

Pages are split per student by their codes; names are matched only when a code can't be read.

  • Marks you can trust

AI marking suggests; a teacher releases. Absent and excused are words, never 0.

How it compares.

Fair, sourced comparisons with the tools schools weigh this against, checked on their own sites.

Questions about paper exams and omr

Do we need special scanners or paper?

No. Any scanner or copier that makes a PDF or images works, on plain paper.

What if a QR code is damaged?

That page is flagged and you pick the student; everything else carries on.

Can different students get different sets?

Yes. Paper sets are dealt so neighbours differ, and a set locks once it's printed or picked by a teacher.

Is OMR still supported?

Yes. Bubble sheets, cover sheets and student packs are all kept, and you choose per exam.

Who decides the final mark?

A teacher. AI reads and suggests marks against the scheme; nothing is released without a person.
